Bohol Road Trip 2018
Once
again me and my group has planned for a 2-day road trip in Bohol, our home
province. My friends specifically my batch mates in high school from different
parts of the country had gathered in Tagbilaran City. We had decided to include
in our itinerary some hidden new places
in Bohol which are not yet too famous but
worth visiting. We went beyond the usual Bohol itinerary. Newfound tourist
destinations like farm, caves, waterfalls and so much more.
Day
1
From
our favorite assembly place, the Plaza, a private van took us to our first stop
in Tanday, Baclayon, Bohol. It is a remote barangay in Baclayon and home to
Edith’s Garden and Adventure Park. It is
a campground where you can enjoy the beauty of nature, set up tents and enjoy
the night there. A serene place to unwind with nature. You can tour around the park and see the beautiful flower and fauna farm, ancient
bougainvilla flowers, dragon fruit farm, horse backriding and of course the cave adventure at the
amazing Kangcaramel cave which is just inside the campground itself. A tour
guide accompanied us inside the cave,
after which we enjoyed sipping a freshly made dragon fruit shake handpicked from
their own farm.
Travel
time is about 30 minutes. Entrance fee is at P150 per head.

From
Baclayon, Bohol, we proceeded to Carmen, Bohol, home to the famous Chocolate
Hills. We stopped by Tanny’s Native Chicken resto and took our lunch there. We
had an advance booking, of course, because we are a big group. We enjoyed their
famous and tasty fried native chicken or “manok bisaya” in our dialect, beef
soup and pancit canton. We were so hungry and enjoyed so much the sumptuous
lunch we had. Travel time is about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Then
we proceeded to Candijay, Bohol traversing through the Carmen – Alicia road to
see the now famous hidden gems of Candijay, the Can-umantad Falls and the
Cadapdapan Rice Terraces. After an hour drive we have reached our destination
and proceeded first to Eleuterio’s Rice Terraces in Cadapdapan. Cadapdapan is a
sitio in Barangay Canumantad. Along the way to Eleuterio’s you will have to pay
the barangay environmental fee of P20 per head if you are going to the falls
and entrance fee of P20.00 at
Eleuterio’s Rice Terraces. Parking fee is P40 for private cars.
The
rice terraces in Cadapdapan is the most beautiful rice terraces in Bohol. It’s
a hidden paradise indeed. The instagrammable panoramic view of the rice
terraces is so amazing.
From
Eleuterio’s farm, Canumantad falls is just down below. You can reach it by foot
for about 15 minutes trek. There are about 480 steps down, so double it when
you go up. The tallest water falls in
Bohol is the Canumantad Falls. The water beautifully flow freely into a shallow
basin and you can take a dip and enjoy the cool waters. And you can also enjoy
viewing the beauty of the majestic water falls at the foot of the falls where
there are tables and chairs provided by the local government where you can
enjoy your picnic with your family and friends.
From
Candijay we proceeded to Anda, a 45 minute drive, arriving at our destination
where we are booked for the night, The Little Miami Beach Resort.. It is
adjacent to the famous Anda public beach, the Quinale Beach Resort. We have
exclusively booked this little nice beach front resort for our group. A little
get together party was held that night, dinner, drinks, a videoke and all night
dancing and rekindle our old friendship.
Day
2
Early
morning and most of us were already up to attend the 6am mass at the Sto. Nino
de Anda Church since all of us are Roman Catholics. An early morning blessing
is what we need for our activities ahead. Our group enjoyed the nice beach of
Anda which was high tide at that time. While the others are enjoying the fresh
buko which came from Candijay brought in by one of our friends.
Noontime
is check out time. Hence all of us are all ready to jump in our respective
vans. While on our way back to Tagbilaran City, we stopped by one of the cave pools
in Bacong, Anda which is called the Cabagnow Cavepool. A donation of any amount will do before
entering the area.
You
can dive and take a dip or swim. It’s a 12 ft deep pool. An iron ladder has
been installed to assist you in going down or you can just dive from the top.
That
was our last stop. Everything went well and we arrived in Tagbilaran City while
the sun was still up. Still had time to take our snacks at Tablea de Maria
Clara, located at Maria Clara St., Tagbilaran City, which offers different
version of hot (dark) chocolate or “tablea” paired with puto maya and sweet
mango and that was so delicious. You
must try it.
Everyone enjoyed this unforgettable experience.
Till
our next tour!
